mo5rij مخرج
Tunisian Derja · noun
“mo5rij” (مخرج) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning film director.
Meanings
- film director
- exit, way out
Usage
The same written word covers two pronunciations. Mo5rij means the director of a film, series or programme; the feminine is mo5rja and the plural is mo5rjin. Makhraj means "exit, way out", for example makhraj el aman "emergency exit", or, figuratively, a solution for getting out of a difficult situation. Both are Standard Arabic terms, well established in the media and in conversation. In speech, people also often say réalisateur in French, or sortie. Only context resolves the ambiguity in writing.
Example
شكون المخرج متاع المسلسل هذا؟
chkoun el mo5rij mta3 el mosalsel hedha?
“Who is the director of this series?”
