Usage

Mojrem is used as both a noun and an adjective. The feminine is mojrma and the plural is mojrmin. In its literal sense, it refers to the perpetrator of a crime, as in English. The word comes from Standard Arabic and is heard in the news as well as in conversation. In colloquial speech, it is often used as a strong accusation against a political leader or a person judged to be merciless. It frequently appears in the address "ya mojrem!". The tone is then polemical or indignant. It should therefore be used with caution, as it can be taken as a serious insult.
