Meanings
- heading home (feminine)
- fan, electric fan
Usage
Mrawwa7a is the feminine of the participle mrawwa7, from the verb rawwa7 (to go home, to return home). It expresses a movement in progress or imminent: "ana mrawwa7a" (I'm heading home, I'm on my way back), "mrawwa7a mel khedma" (I'm coming home from work). The plural is mrawwa7in. Rawwa7 always implies a return to one's own home. To go elsewhere, use mcha (to go). Written marwa7a, the same word also means a hand fan or a bladed fan. In that sense, the French word "ventilateur" is widely used. Only context distinguishes the two meanings.
Example
أنا مروّحة من الخدمة، نشوفك في الدار.
ana mrawwa7a mel khedma, nchoufek fid dar.
“I'm coming home from work, see you at the house.”
