Usage
Participle of the verb tmadd, "to lie down, stretch out". Mtmadd is said of a person lying on a bed, a couch or on the floor, often to rest. The feminine is mtmadda and the plural is mtmaddin. The word is used in everyday, informal register. It readily takes on a tone of reproach: being mtmadd means staying sprawled out instead of working. It is commonly built with 3la, "on": mtmadd 3al farch. Note that it does not mean "extended" in the sense of "widened" or "prolonged". It only describes a body position.
