Usage
Nehdi is the first person of the imperfect of the verb hda (to give, to dedicate). It is heard mostly in dedications: a song, a victory, a post, or tagging someone on social media. The typical construction is "nehdi + thing + l + person": nehdi el oughnia hedhi l-ommi. The verb is also used for a concrete gift, but for a gift one more often says "na3tik hdiyya". Beware of homographs: Nahdi is also a Tunisian family name, for example that of the comedian Lamine Nahdi. Context is enough to tell them apart.
