nesba نسبة

Tunisian Derja · noun

“nesba” (نسبة) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning rate, percentage.

Meanings

  1. rate, percentage
  2. proportion, share

Usage

A common noun, though in a somewhat more formal register, heard in the news, in economics and in discussions of prices: "nesbet el-fayda" (the interest rate), "nesba mi2awiya" (a percentage). The plural is nisab. The phrase "bin-nesba l-" means "as for, regarding": "bin-nesba liya" (as far as I'm concerned, for me), very frequent in conversation. The phrase is the main thing to remember, as it is far more common in daily speech than the noun alone.

Example
