nesi ناسي
Tunisian Derja · adjective
“nesi” (ناسي) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning having forgotten.
Meanings
- having forgotten
- absent-minded, forgetful
Usage
Nesi is the active participle of the verb nsa (to forget). It is very often used to say "I forgot" with the value of a state: "ana nesi" (I've forgotten, I don't remember it any more). The feminine is nesya and the plural nesyin. With kont, it marks a past lapse: "kont nesi" (I had forgotten). It can also describe an absent-minded person. English will often render it with a past tense rather than an adjective. The forgotten object follows directly: "nesi el mfeteh" (I forgot the keys).
Example
سامحني، كنت ناسي الموعد.
smahni, kont nesi el maw3ed.
“Sorry, I had forgotten the appointment.”
