  2. to get away, escape
  3. to carry out, execute (naffedh)

Usage

In the form nfedh, the verb means that something runs out or becomes scarce: money, patience, supplies. One says nfedh sabri for "my patience is at its end". The same verb can also mean "to get by", "to manage to get through": nfedh b-rouhou, "he got away with it". The intensive form naffedh means "to carry out": an order, a plan, or a promise one keeps (naffedh el-wa3d). Without vowels, Arabic script does not distinguish the two forms. Context decides: does the subject suffer the shortage, or perform the action?
