re9ed راقد

Tunisian Derja · adjective

“re9ed” (راقد) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning asleep, sleeping.

Meanings

  1. asleep, sleeping
  2. lying down

Usage

Re9ed is the participle of the verb r9od (to sleep). It describes someone who is sleeping or who is simply stretched out, not necessarily asleep. It agrees in gender and number: re9da in the feminine, re9din in the plural. It is often made more specific by the position: re9ed 3la dhahrou (lying on his back), re9ed 3la kerchou (on his stomach). Context decides between "he is sleeping" and "he is lying down". The sentence "houwa re9ed" answers "where is he?" just as well as "what is he doing?". The word is used in all registers.
