rkoub ركوب
Tunisian Derja · noun
“rkoub” (ركوب) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning riding, getting on (vehicle, mount).
Meanings
- riding, getting on (vehicle, mount)
- riding sports
Usage
Rkoub is the verbal noun of rkeb, "to get on, take a seat". It means the act of getting into a vehicle or onto an animal, as in rkoub el khil, horse riding. It is also used to name certain sports, often modeled on Standard Arabic: rkoub el amwej for surfing, rkoub e-riyeh for windsurfing. In everyday conversation, people more readily use the verb (nerkeb, rkebt) than this noun, which sounds a little more formal. Be careful not to confuse it with rokba, the knee.
Example
الركوب في الكار الصباح تعب كبير
errkoub fil car essbe7 ta3b kbir
“Taking the bus in the morning is really tiring.”
