rokn ركن
Tunisian Derja · noun
“rokn” (ركن) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning corner, angle.
Meanings

Usage
Rokn refers to the corner of a room or a street, or to a specific spot within a space: fi rokn el bit ("in the corner of the room"), kol rokn ("every nook"). The plural is rkan or arkan. The register is neutral and the word suits both speech and writing. One pitfall to know: arkan is also used, under the influence of Standard Arabic, in the sense of "pillars", notably in arkan el islam. For a street corner, one also hears the loanword kwin, derived from French "coin".
