Usage
Tawkil refers to the act of entrusting someone to act on one's behalf, in particular a power of attorney drawn up before a notary or at a government office. Common phrases are 3mal tawkil, "to make a power of attorney", and 3tah tawkil, "to give him power of attorney". These procedures are frequent among Tunisians abroad who entrust a sale, an inheritance or paperwork to a relative who stayed in the country. By extension, the word also refers to an authorization or rights granted, for example to perform another artist's song. The register is administrative, but the word is known to everyone.
