Meanings
- table
- school desk

Usage
Tawla is the usual word for a table, whether for eating, working or a café. At school it also means the desk where pupils sit. You specify the use with metta3: "tawla metta3 makla" for the dining table. The word is feminine: "tawla kbira". The English gloss "bench" is misleading: a bench is rather called bank. "Mida" is also used for a traditional low table, around which people sit low to eat, especially in families. Tawla remains the most general term.
