Thènia is the feminine of thèni, "second". It is used with a feminine noun, as in el bent ethènia, "the second daughter". The most frequent expression is marra thènia, "another time, once more", used to ask someone to repeat or to put something off: marra thènia nchoufek, "we'll see each other another time". The word also means the second as a unit of time, but to say "one second!" in the sense of "wait", the French form "seconde" or dqi9a is heard more often. In Tunisia the pronunciation varies between thènia and tènia.
