Meanings
- you look / she looks
- to seem, to look like
Usage
Tokhzor is the present-tense form, 2nd person singular or 3rd person feminine, of the verb khzar, "to look", very common in Tunisia. It takes l- or fi: tokhzor lel sa9f, tokhzor fiya. The phrase tokhzor-lha t9oul... means "to look at her, you'd think...": tokhzor t9oul ellotf, "you'd think she was gentleness itself", often said ironically. A pointed or disapproving look is also called khzar. Do not confuse this verb with chef, "to see", which refers more to perception than to directing one's gaze.
