Usage
Tsedd is a conjugated form of the verb sedd in the present tense: "she blocks" or "you block". The verb is used for a passage, a pipe, or a road that gets obstructed. With 3la, it takes on a figurative sense: "tsedd 3lik" is said of doors, work, or money that close off to someone. It is also used for hunger: "ma tseddech ej-jou3", "that doesn't satisfy the hunger". Pitfall for an English speaker: to close a door or a shop, one says sakker instead. Sedd suggests an obstruction or a blockage.
