twsil توصيل

Tunisian Derja · noun

“twsil” (توصيل) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning receipt, proof of payment.

Meanings

  1. receipt, proof of payment
  2. delivery

Usage

In Tunisia, twsil above all means the receipt, i.e. the paper handed over after a payment or an errand: at the pharmacy, in an administration, for a registration or a bill. You ask for it with ta3tini twsil? ("will you give me a receipt?"). It is also heard in the sense of delivery, especially in online commerce, but this sense remains secondary compared to livraison, borrowed from French. Pitfall for an English speaker: don't understand it only as "delivery", the sense it has in standard Arabic.

Example

ما تنساش تاخو التوصيل كي تخلّص.

ma tensech tekhou ettwsil ki tkhalles.

“Don't forget to take the receipt when you pay.”
