Meanings

  1. quickly, fast
  2. hastily, in a rush

Usage

Bezzerba is a very common adverb, especially in the Algiers area and the East. It is used to hurry someone ("arwah bezzerba", come quickly) or to describe something done fast, sometimes too fast. The related verb is yezreb (to hurry, be in a rush) and the adjective is mezroub (in a hurry). "Ana mezroub" means "I'm in a hurry." The register is informal and neutral, with no particular connotation. It is often repeated for emphasis: "bezzerba bezzerba". It can be compared to "quick and dirty" in some contexts, but bezzerba does not mean "sloppy" on its own.
