Meanings
- here
Usage
Hnaya is the most common adverb of place for "here". It is used alone (ana hnaya, "I am here") or with prepositions: men hnaya ("from here, this way"), hatta l hnaya ("up to here"). There is a shorter variant, hna, which is common depending on the region. Do not confuse hna, "here", with hna, "we", a variant of hnaya or nehna depending on the dialect; context decides. The opposite is temma or lhih, which mean "over there". The word has no marked register and is used everywhere.
