hnaya هنايا
Moroccan Darija · adverb
“hnaya” (هنايا) is an adverb in Moroccan Darija meaning here.
Meanings
- here
Usage
"Hnaya" is a lengthened variant of "hna", "here". It is very common and slightly more emphatic, especially at the end of a sentence: "ana hnaya", "I am here". It is used alone or with a preposition: "mn hnaya", "from here, this way", or "hta l hnaya", "up to here". The expression "hyed mn hnaya" is used to chase someone away. Do not confuse this word with the pronoun "hna", "we": the form "hnaya" never takes that meaning. Its opposite is "hnak" or "lhih", "over there".
Example
غير خليني هنايا
ghir khelini hnaya
“Just leave me here.”
