Meanings

  1. here
  2. at our place, in our area

Usage

Hnaya is a variant of hné or lhné, which mean "here". It is heard mainly in certain regions and in more casual speech. The word refers to the place where the speaker is, or more broadly "at our place" as opposed to "at your place". It is often used with a preposition: "men hnaya" (from here), "lhnaya" (over here, up to here). For the other side, you say ghadi or ghadika ("over there"). An English speaker may find it more natural to use hné, the most common form in the country.
