Meanings

  1. to gather, to collect, to pick up
  2. to pack away, to tidy up
  3. to accumulate, to put aside

Usage

Jamma3, with the middle consonant doubled, means to bring things or people together. It is used for objects (jamma3 hwayjek, "gather your things"), for money being put aside (jamma3 drahem) or for people one has summoned. The expression jamma3 rouhek means "pull yourself together, behave properly". It should not be confused with the simple form jma3, which is rarer in speech. The reference definition, which gives the sense "to sit down", is not confirmed by common usage. The register is neutral and everyday. The verb is conjugated regularly: njamma3, yjamma3.
