Usage
Jma3 (imperfect yajma3, imperative ejma3) means to bring things or people together in one place: picking up scattered objects, gathering people, putting money aside. The expression ejma3 7wayjek, "gather your things", is used for tidying up or packing. In arithmetic, it means addition. The verb lamm, close in meaning, is very frequent for everyday "picking up".
