Meanings
- satisfied, content
- willing, agreeing
- approved (by God, by parents)
Usage
radi means "satisfied" or "content with one's lot". The feminine is radia, the plural radyin. The typical construction is radi 3la ("satisfied with someone"): rabbi radi 3lih, "God is pleased with him". In religious and family language, the word evokes the parents' blessing: wlid radi, "a blessed son, approved by his parents". It can also mean "in agreement, willing": rani radi, "I accept". The register is neutral and the word is used very frequently. It should not be confused with the verb rda ("to accept, to be content"), of which it is the participle.
