tgoulou تقولوا
Algerian Darja · verb
“tgoulou” (تقولوا) is a verb in Algerian Darja meaning you (pl.) say.
Meanings
- you (pl.) say
Usage
Tgoulou is the second person plural, imperfect, of the verb gal, "to say". It also serves as a collective polite form of address when speaking to a group. The first consonant is pronounced "g" in much of Algeria, and "q" or "9" in some cities, so the spelling varies a lot online. In the negative, the verb is wrapped in ma… ch: matgoulouch, "don't say". With the particle of duration, you get rakoum tgoulou, "you are saying". The final -ou is often written -o in arabizi.
Example
واش تقولوا على هاد الشي؟
wach tgoulou 3la had chi?
“What do you all say about this?”
