Meanings
- proud (of someone, of something)
Usage
Fakhour means "proud" in the positive sense: pleased and honored by a person or an achievement. It takes b: "fakhour bik" (proud of you), "fakhoura b bladha" (proud of her country). The feminine is fakhoura, the plural fakhourin. The word comes from literary Arabic but is very common in speech and on social media, especially in congratulations. It does not mean "arrogant" or "haughty"; for that pejorative sense, other words are used, such as mtkebber or m3ewwej.
