“fenni” (فنّي) is an adjective in Moroccan Darija meaning artistic.

Meanings

  1. artistic
  2. technical (field, department)

Usage

Fenni is the adjective derived from fenn, in the sense of artistic. It appears in "3amal fenni" (artistic work) or "l-mejal l-fenni" (the artistic scene). The feminine is fenniya. The same word also means "technical", as in Standard Arabic, as in "mushkil fenni" (technical problem) or "l-fa7s t-te9ni". For this second sense, however, many speakers prefer the French "technique". The register is fairly polished, close to Standard Arabic. The word is frequent in the media and in cultural discussions.
