ina إينا

Moroccan Darija · pronoun

“ina” (إينا) is a pronoun in Moroccan Darija meaning which (interrogative).

Meanings

  1. which (interrogative)
  2. which one

Usage

An interrogative placed directly before the noun, without an article: ina dawla, "which country", ina film, "which film". It does not vary in gender or number. To say "which one" without a noun, the reinforced forms inahowa (masculine), inahiya (feminine) and inahoma (plural) are used. After a preposition, the order stays the same: f ina medrasa, "in which school". Do not confuse it with fin (where) or with achmen, which has a close meaning and which some speakers prefer. The register is everyday and neutral.

Example

إينا دولة كاتعجبك؟

ina dawla kat3ejbek?

“Which country do you like?”

A real sentence from DODa.
