Meanings

  1. to mix, blend
  2. to confuse, mix up
  3. to stir up trouble

Usage

Khellet means to mix ingredients or things. In cooking, it also means to put food through the blender: khellet l-3assir, make the juice. Figuratively, it means to confuse, to muddle everything up (khellet-ti, you got confused) or to stir up trouble between people. The passive or reflexive form is tkhellet, "to get mixed up, get confused". The participle mkhellet means "mixed, varied" and is used, for example, for a mixed salad. Distinguish it from khalla, "to leave", whose pronunciation is close in some Latin spellings.
