nta نتا

Moroccan Darija · pronoun

“nta” (نتا) is a pronoun in Moroccan Darija meaning you (masculine singular).

Meanings

  1. you (masculine singular)

Usage

Nta is the second-person masculine singular personal pronoun. The feminine is nti, and the plural is ntouma. Since the verb already shows the person, it is mainly used for emphasis or contrast: nta lli glti (you are the one who said it). It is also used in verbless nominal sentences with no "to be": nta mezyan (you are kind). The phrase nta hiya nta (it really is you) is common. Pitfall in written arabizi: nta (you) can be confused with the verbal prefix nt-.
