Usage
Simana is the most common word for "week" in everyday conversation. It is often used without an article in fixed phrases: simana jaya (next week), simana li fatt (last week), kol simana (every week). The usual plural is simanat. You also hear jem3a with the same meaning, but that word also means Friday, which can cause confusion. For a duration, you say for example simana w nass (a week and a half) or juj simanat (two weeks).
