Tunisian Derja · adjective

“7mar” (حمر) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning red (plural).

Meanings

  1. red (plural)
  2. reddened (eyes)

Usage

7mar is the plural of a7mar (red, masculine) and of 7amra (feminine). It is used with a plural noun: "3inaya 7mar", I have red eyes; "tikiyet 7mar", red labels. An English speaker may use a7mar in the plural by mistake. The same root gives the verb 7ammar, "to redden, to brown" in cooking.
