chkeya شكاية
Tunisian Derja · noun
“chkeya” (شكاية) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning complaint (formal).
Meanings
- complaint (formal)
- claim, grievance
Usage
Chkeya means a complaint or a claim, in both the administrative and the legal sense. The typical construction is "qaddem chkeya" (to file a complaint, to lodge a claim), often followed by "3la" for the person targeted: "qaddemt chkeya 3lih fil-police". The word is also used for a complaint to a hotel, an administration or a customer service. It does not mean the simple act of complaining in speech. For that, use the verb tchakka or expressions such as "9a3ed yechki".
