jawda جودة
Tunisian Derja · noun
“jawda” (جودة) is a noun in Tunisian Derja meaning quality (of a product).
Meanings
- quality (of a product)
Usage
Jawda refers to the quality of goods or of a service. The word comes from standard Arabic and is found mainly in commerce, advertising and exchanges with a seller: a7san jawda, "the best quality". In everyday conversation, many Tunisians also say kalité, borrowed from French, or simply describe something as behya ("good") or mech behya ("not good"). Jawda is nonetheless well understood and natural in a shop or market. It is used for material quality, not for a person's moral qualities.
Example
هاذي أحسن جودة عندك ولا فمّا خير؟
hedhi a7san jawda 3andek wala famma khir?
“Is this the best quality you have, or is there better?”
