lik لك
Tunisian Derja · preposition
“lik” (لك) is a preposition in Tunisian Derja meaning to you, for you.
Meanings
- to you, for you
- you (indirect object)
Usage
Lik is the preposition "l" followed by the second person singular pronoun. It marks the recipient: "hedhi lik" (this is for you). After a verb, it serves as an indirect object and is often written attached to the verb: "n9ollek" (I tell you), "jebtlek" (I brought you). Lik does not vary according to whether you are addressing a man or a woman, as elsewhere in Tunisian speech. The plural is "likom". The form is very common in fixed expressions, some of which are insulting, so pay attention to the context.
