mnin منين
Tunisian Derja · adverb
“mnin” (منين) is an adverb in Tunisian Derja meaning from where, from what place.
Meanings
- from where, from what place
- which way, through where
- how, by what means
Usage
Mnin is the Tunisian interrogative for origin: inti mnin? (where are you from?). It is also used for passage, in the sense of "which way": mnin nemchi? (which way do I go?), mnin yodkhel (where does he enter). In a rhetorical question, it expresses impossibility or the search for a means: mnin bech njib el flous? (where do you expect me to get the money from?). Pitfall: it does not mean plain "where", which is win. Do not confuse win (where) and mnin (from where, which way).
Example
إنتِ منين أصلك؟
enti mnin aslek?
“Where are you originally from?”
