Usage

Moul is always followed by a complement: "moul el 7anout" (the shop owner), "moul ed-dar" (the owner of the house), "moul el karhba" (the owner of the car). It is also used to designate someone by what they wear or own: "moul el kaskrout", "moul ech-chachia". The feminine is moulet. Common, informal register. Note: the Arabic spelling is the same as that of the English loanword "mall" (shopping center) and of the standard Arabic verb "to finance", neither of which has anything to do with this meaning in derja.
