Meanings

Usage
nafsiya refers to one's psychological state and especially one's mood at a given moment. In everyday speech it is almost always qualified: "nafsiya mgata3a" or "nafsiya ta7ya" (very low spirits), "nafsiya mriguela" (good spirits). It is also used on its own in a colloquial tone: "3andou nafsiya" means that he is touchy or in a bad mood. The word is feminine, so adjectives agree in the feminine. In formal or medical registers ("7ala nafsiya", "i7ata nafsiya"), it keeps its technical sense of "psychological".
