Tunisian Derja · verb
“t3awed” (تعود) is a verb in Tunisian Derja meaning to get used to, to become accustomed.
Meanings
- to get used to, to become accustomed
Usage
T3awed, pronounced with a doubled w, means to get used to something or someone. The typical construction is "t3awed 3la" followed by a noun or a verb: "t3awedt 3la l'bard" (I got used to the cold). The participle mt3awed means "accustomed". The pitfall comes from Arabic script without vowels. The same spelling can correspond to t3awed, "you redo, you repeat", from the verb 3awed (to redo). Only context distinguishes the two. In the present tense, one says "yet3awed", and in the imperative "t3awed !" (get used to it!).
