ta3 تاع
Tunisian Derja · preposition
“ta3” (تاع) is a preposition in Tunisian Derja meaning of (belonging, possession).
Meanings
- of (belonging, possession)
- mine, yours (with pronoun)
Usage
Ta3 is a shortened form of mta3, the most common possessive particle in Tunisian. It links two nouns (el karhba ta3 baba, "dad's car") or takes a suffixed pronoun (ta3i, "mine"). It is found in the speech of some regions and very often in writing on social media. The full form mta3 remains the most widespread and the most neutral. It is also worth knowing that direct annexation without a particle can be used as well.
Example
هاذي الكرهبة تاع خويا
hedhi el karhba ta3 khouya
“This car is my brother's.”
