tayeb طايب
Tunisian Derja · adjective
“tayeb” (طايب) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning cooked (food).
Meanings
- cooked (food)
- ripe (fruit)
- well-done, overcooked
Usage
Tayeb is the participle of "to cook" and is used mostly in cooking. It describes a dish or ingredient that is ready to eat: "el ma9rouna tayba?" (is the pasta cooked?). A fruit is also called tayeb when it is ripe. The feminine is tayba and the plural is tayba or taybin. For meat, tayeb barcha (well-done) contrasts with nos tyab (medium, half-cooked). Note: Taieb is also a common first name, and the word does not have the meaning "good, kind" that tayyib has in Standard Arabic.

الدجاج طايب، نجمو ناكلو.
