wardi وردي
Tunisian Derja · adjective
“wardi” (وردي) is an adjective in Tunisian Derja meaning pink (color).
Meanings
- pink (color)
Usage
A color adjective formed from "warda" (rose, the flower). It is common for describing clothes, cars, paintings or makeup, and it goes after the noun: "sabbat wardi" (pink shoes). The feminine is "wardiya". In speech, many Tunisians also use the French word "rose" directly, especially in cities. The figurative sense of "seeing life through rose-tinted glasses" is not a usual expression in derja. Also note that "Wardi" exists as a family name, which can cause confusion in texts.
