wsel وصل

Tunisian Derja · verb

“wsel” (وصل) is a verb in Tunisian Derja meaning to arrive.

Meanings

  1. to arrive
  2. to reach, attain

Usage

Wsel is the common verb for "to arrive": wselt (I arrived), wselna, and in the present youssel. It is used directly with the place, with or without l-: wsel l-dar or wsel lel-dar. Figuratively, it means to reach: wsel l-hadfou (he reached his goal). It must be distinguished from the derived form wassel ("to bring, drop off, deliver"): nwasslek lel-mahatta, "I'll drop you at the station". One also says wassel l-ma3louma, "to pass on the information". Pitfall: wsel and wassel are easily confused, yet one is intransitive and the other transitive.
