“bayna” (باينة) is an adverb in Algerian Darja meaning it's clear, obviously.
Meanings
- it's clear, obviously
- visible, apparent (feminine)
Usage
Bayna is the feminine of bayen, "visible, apparent". Used on its own, it serves as an adverb or interjection meaning "it's obvious" or "you can tell": bayna! It often introduces a clause with belli: bayna belli rah ghalet, "it's clear that he's wrong". As an adjective, it agrees with a feminine noun: lblassa bayna, "the place is visible". The register is informal and very common. Pitfall: it can express ironic obviousness, like "well, obviously".
Example
باينة بلي ما يجيش اليوم
bayna belli ma yjich lyoum
“It's clear he won't come today.”
