Usage
Bayna is the feminine of bayen, "apparent, visible". It is very often used on its own, like an adverb, to mean "it's obvious" or "you can tell". It is placed at the start of a sentence to introduce an observation: bayna, ma 7abch yji ("it's clear, he didn't want to come"). Hiya bayna and mahi bayna, "but it's obvious", are used to cut a discussion short, sometimes with irritation. As an adjective, it agrees in gender: el ghalta bayna, "the mistake is visible". The register is informal and spoken, and very frequent in everyday exchanges.
