“soura” (صورة) is a noun in Algerian Darja meaning image, picture quality.

Meanings

  3. reputation, projected image

Usage

Soura is used for image in the broad sense: the picture of a video (« soura mliha », good picture quality) or the image one projects of oneself or one's country. For a photo, the most spontaneous word remains tswira (plural tsawer). One says « dir tswira » (take a photo), or the borrowed form tof. Soura can also mean a photo, in a slightly more neutral register. Do not confuse it with sourat, a sura of the Quran, which has the same root but a distinct meaning.

Lvideo mlih bessah soura machi wadha.
