zada زادة
Algerian Darja · adverb
“zada” (زادة) is an adverb in Algerian Darja meaning also, too.
Meanings
- also, too
- moreover, in addition
Usage
Zada means "also" or "too". It is generally placed after the word it reinforces: "nti zada" (you too), "ana zada" (me too). It is used mostly in eastern Algeria. In Algiers and the west, people say "tani" or "tanik" instead, and elsewhere "gana" is also heard. It is very common in replies to good wishes: "w nti zada", meaning "and you too" or "likewise". The register is informal and neutral. The difficulty is choosing the right variant depending on the region of the person you are speaking to.
