sahel سهل

Tunisian Derja · verb

“sahel” (سهل) is a verb in Tunisian Derja meaning to make easy.

Meanings

  1. to make easy
  2. (God) to grant success

Usage

Sahhel, with the doubled h, means "to facilitate". It appears mainly in the very common formula rabbi ysahhel, "may God make it easy". It is said to wish good luck to someone setting off or starting something. It is also used to politely decline, for example when facing a beggar or a pushy seller. The verb takes an object pronoun: rabbi ysahhel 3lik, "may God make things easy for you". Pitfall: do not confuse it with the adjective sahel, "easy", which is written the same way in Arabic without vowels.
